Our eyeshave a powerful influence on our aesthetic approach to understanding theuniverse surrounding us. Aligned to such appreciation seeing has the potentialto offer us an authorial gift of “other-ness” when brought to bear onevaluative relationships. Yet this penetrating gaze might also be seen aslimiting when put to work in the servicers of “other”.
From the sideways glance, to the lingering gaze oflovers, a look can be seen is directly impacted by the ideologies thatinfluence interpretation, the time and space of its origin, and the genre of its capture.
Whilst words have gone out and lost their meaning abandoning usin oblivion and despair for lacking ability to convey our deepest sentimental perceptions,seeing could be bliss. Eyes penetrating through the gaze of the “other wouldbuild a well-rooted bridge filled with all the unspoken hidden thoughts ofmankind and would seek empathy, understanding and acceptance.
The series “Ethereal” is the artist’s attempt tovisualize this quiet and mysterious connection by creating separate charactersin each artwork whom are singularly questing our ownspiritual self-perception through their eyes.
